For over 15 years, I have cultivated an incredibly loyal fan base of music lovers, and I would like to share the wealth with you. I want to help you expand your audience by releasing your "single" to a music loving fan base of over 10,000 people.

My objective is to support and encourage independent artists (like myself) in all genres and at all levels of experience. We keep the price low and our aim simple: to get your music heard by music buyers. We do this by placing your song and web address on the CD Sampler and giving them away on a first come first serve basis to folks who buy music. It's a simple strategy that will help build your fan base up. Samplers are a tried and true format for making new fans. Unless you're getting tons of airplay, there is no better way to get the buying public to actually hear your music for the first time.

Samplers are also the most cost effective way to get your music heard by people who want to hear independent music. Then once they hear your song, they can easily purchase your CD through your web address that will be printed on the sleeve and on the CD!

Your cost to be included on 1000 CD samplers is only $275 for totally indie artists and $350 for labels with distribution. That's .28 to .35 per CD! You can't even mail a CD for that. It's cheaper than placing an ad in a weekly paper- Plus we give you 50 free sampler CD's at no extra cost.

Selection Criteria

We are looking for originality of melody, lyrics (unless it is an instrumental) and composition. Production and performance qualities are also considered. Any song or spoken word piece in any genre or language from any country is eligible. Songs are selected on a first come first serve basis for each sampler. The sooner you send your CD, the better your chances to get on the sampler.

Entries must meet the following requirements:

1. All entries must be less than 4:30 in length.

2. 2 Tracks you would like considered must be circled on the CD (Only two entries per CD allowed)

3. Professional recordings, home studio recordings, and live recordings are accepted- No boom box recordings, please!

4. CD entries only

5. Web address where people can purchase your CD must be included.

DO NOT SEND MONEY; YOUR MUSIC MUST BE REVIEWED FIRST.

We will contact you if your song is chosen for the sampler. At that time we will give you a deadline to mail in your money order.

All entrants retain all publishing rights and ownership of their submissions. CD's cannot be returned. There are no contractual arrangements other than a one time email commitment to be on the sampler. Serious inquiries only.

2) What happens after you receive my CD?

First we check to make sure it meets the song length requirement before we even listen to it. Then we review your song according to quality and content. We listen to every CD and judge them equally. If your song is selected, we will notify you via email. It may take a few weeks. Do not email us - we will email you if your song is chosen. After we receive your payment, we will again email you to verify your pertinent information.

3) What happens to the sampler once it is completed?

The final master goes to the manufacturer- It usually takes about 4-6 weeks to get them back. Then we mail 50 to you and every artist on the sampler. The artists give them away to their fans either with purchase or as a gift. SBS Records and our friends at Daemon Records give them away w/ purchase. We also encourage trading, copying, burning, etc. They go all over the country and sometimes the world! So far, the samplers have had bands on them from England, Australia, Canada, and Japan...and so the samplers have been handed out to music lovers in those countries!

3) Does SBS distribute to radio or other media?

No, we do not. We made the cost to be on the sampler extremely low - lower than anyother sampler i have found - AND it's been the same price since we started in 2001. This enables more folks to take part. Because the cost is so low, we really have no budget to pay to radio promoters or publicists. But between all the artists and Daemon and SBS, they get very well distributed all over the country and sometimes the world.

4) Will one of your songs, Michelle Malone, be on the disc?

Yes, I put one of my songs on each disc and give them away with purchase at shows and at the website, because I think it's a great way to make more new fans!

5) How many songs are on each sampler? Anywhere from 12 -18-ish... depending on how many entries we receive, song length, etc

6) How do I get paid $25 referral fee?

Just refer somebody that ends up on the sampler! When we receive their CD and payment (after we accept their song), we'll pay you $25! Artist must include with their payment your name, mailing address, and write that artist was referred to us by you. It is the artists responsibility to include your name and mailing address with their payment. There is no limit to how many bands you refer or how much cash you make doing so.
